CINCINNATI

"What do you want to do for you birthday?", is the question it all started with. With Brittany's upcoming birthday she wanted to do something different. I suggested a small road trip. I mean we had to drive a distance to go to our 5K run last year and that trip was amazing, so why not do another trip somewhere.

Cincinnati is where's we wanted to land and Cincinnati is where we headed. With the Taylors, McKains, and Jonathan we started on an adventure of fun and experience. An hour and some minutes is what we had on the road and we made every moment of that count.

On the banks of the Ohio, and what I feel is the heart of Cincinnati we arrived at The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. A place full of history and wonderful gems truly, and was fulfilling for me. At the time that we went they had a Rosa Parks Experience tour and an Hotel tour on the subject of human trafficking that you could add to your experience, but we just did the standard tour, and that was major into itself. The museum covers the past, present, and future of slavery and the efforts made to stop it.

The museum was full of some of the most amazing exhibits that pertained to the subject matter. I believe what was the best part about the museum was seeing people of every age, every color, and every background walking around getting educated. As I was walking from one area of the exhibit to another I saw two mature women sitting down on a bench sharing stories about their life and things that went on as they grew up. That's how you know a place like that is making an impact, when it sparks groundbreaking conversation. The blood and lives of those that sacrificed for you and me gives me even more life to appreciate. Even though it was a great museum, and we learned so much it had moments that were hard to bear. When you see the very long journey those who look like me had to go through , and when you see what is still going on today it does make you think hard and still want to have hope for an even better today and tomorrow. One the hardest things I think that we saw in the museum is the slavery going on today with the children. All of us in the group thought of our young ones at home. Again after the experience we realized it did a lot for us and my hope is that you that are reading take the chance to experience it for yourself. Check out these photos below from our experience.

After the museum we drove around the city, where we saw all the art work on buildings around the beautiful city, and headed off for Cincinnati's Findlay Market.

Findlay Market is one of the oldest, most beautiful, vibrant, and surviving municipal market house. The market house has a full variety of locally owned businesses, with food, spices, art, and growers. Our eyes consumed in all the sites and our mouths took into some very good eats. we walked outside the market and came upon this local BBQ spot called Eli's BBQ

Check below to see what we all ordered. I definitely recommend checking this place out.

Ultimately we had an amazing trip, learned a lot, and made a lifetime of memories. Trips like this make you realize why it is so important on who you take the journeys in life with. It seriously matters.
