SOULFUL SUNDAYZ- What started out as an idea has grown into something so much more than I think everyone involved ever imagined. Started on the river side of downtown Jeffersonville, a gathering of fellow creatives got together. It got so big they had to expand into a different space in Louisville, Kentucky at the Tim Faulkner Gallery.
and the rest of the Soulful Sundayz team, saw that there was something needed in the community. For every first Sunday of the month they have made a place where people with creative interest could get together, hangout, relax, take in some really good food, and listen to great music. The thought of the concept was wonderful, but the execution of that concept was even better.
We arrived at the event and you could feel the vibrant energy. Around us was a vast majority of creatives of every age and every background. Walking in the place you could feel the creativity booming off the walls of Tim Faulkner Gallery .Soulful Sundayz was just already living up to its name for me. It was Soulful! From the music, the people, the art, and the food. The vibes were hitting hard for Soulful Sundayz.
Greeted at the door by my old friend Kahlil Belliard we were excited to get into the event that I heard all the buzz around town about. Along with being one of the lead people of Soulful Sundayz, he was also the chef who made some amazing food with the help of guest chef Ivy Hennion. The tables were full of jambalaya with a side of white rice. To compliment the dish there was cajun style red beans and rice, shrimp and the choice between sweet or jalepano cheddar cornbread. The flavors exploded into my mouth and made me wanting more.

For dessert we got to bite into Creme Cupcakes made by a young, beautiful, and up and coming creative named Cheserae. They were some of the best Reese's peanut butter cupcakes I have ever tasted for a dessert. A chocolate cupcake with white chocolate and peanut butter chips folded in the inside and then topped with a flavorful fluffy peanut butter buttercream. They are cupcakes that truly make your mouth explode.
After taking in some good food we checked out what the gallery and the event had to offer even more. The place had so much art that was plastered throughout the walls of the museum that my eyes were stuck on them like glue to a school science project. The museum was structured as a maze and the art was all about in the inside and outside of the building, but along with the art there were great creatives showing out with what they had to offer. With the dope DJ hitting us with some fire music that makes a crowd want to get on their feet like no one is looking. Made the art come even more alive off the walls.
Their expressions that they brought forth to the event were amazing. One of the creatives I got to meet was a guy by the name of Tyler who showcased his creative expression of Smack Packs. It was awesome getting to talk to him and meet someone with such a creative mind, talent and passion. Check out his stuff here below.
Overall Soulful Sundayz has definitely made a name for its self, and has proven that its not going anywhere. I see this whole concept only going up from here. I believe for what they set out to do they are totally achieving, because when I was there I felt a sense of belonging and home. I look forward to the next Soulful Sundayz, and for the movement to draw an even bigger crowd.
